Endermologie is the first treatment
allowed by the FDA to claim that it can temporarily reduce cellulite. It is not an invasive or surgical procedure like liposuction, but rather it is more akin to a deep massage. A machine with two rollers and suction is used to draw the skin in between the rollers, folding and smoothing the top layer of fat, where the cellulite exists, and contouring the problem area to give it a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Many of those who have undergone Endermologie treatment report that it is very refreshing and relaxing, and not at all painful. The subject will lie on a massage table, wearing a snug body stocking. The skilled and certified Endermologie technician will guide the machine across the target area, allowing it to gently massage and fold the skin. The treatment increases blood flow and stretches the connective tissue to reduce its problematic pattern and dips and improve the cosmetic appearance of the skin in the affected area. The skin itself is also exfoliated and rejuvenated in the process. Other beneficial and therapeutic effects occur with the Endermologie treatment as well, such as the reduction of body measurements and the relief of muscle pain and spasms.
Endermologie has succeeded where other methods have failed. Liposuction can leave skin loose, while Endermologie will make it taut and more elastic. Also, liposuction will remove the deeper middle layer of fat, leaving the subcutaneous top layer (where the dimples are) still intact. Creams as well as diet and exercise have a very marginal effect which may not be visibly apparent, and the full extent of the ripples and dips sometimes reappear within hours.
This patented technique is generally applied and most effective in a continuing regimen of weekly sessions. The Endermologie technique, developed in France, has succeeded where other treatments have failed. Six to ten session are usually sufficient to produce a dramatic reduction of cellulite and a remarkable improvement in the cosmetic appearance of the skin. The technique is fairly long-lasting, but it is not permanent. Consequently, periodic treatments are recommended to maintain the effect.
