Stay Strong And Stay Young

Everyone wants to know the antiaging72secret of eternal youth. When you’re young you never even think about getting old but when you hit thirty, you start to panic. Suddenly you start to see wrinkles around your eyes and on your forehead which are a tell tale sign of your age. Age spots develop on the hands and dÈcolletage from years of sun exposure and things that used to be high and perky start to droop. You also start to find that you don’t seem to be able to do things with such ease anymore. Remember the days when you used to jump the garden wall – have you tried that lately?

Then there are those people who never seem to age. You know the ones, they turn up at a school or family reunion and look just the same as ten years ago. How do they do that?

There are three key steps to keeping young and healthy: maintain a young outlook on life, eat a healthy balanced diet and take regular exercise.

Young Attitude

There is a famous saying that ‘you’re only as old as you feel’. This is very much the case when it comes to aging. There are those who have the attitude that certain things shouldn’t be done when you reach a certain age. For example you shouldn’t wear a short skirt after a certain age, middle aged people shouldn’t go out partying and elderly people shouldn’t run marathons. But there are no written rules defining these things. In 1976, a 98 year old completed a marathon in seven hours thirty-three minutes – but it’s not the time that was important, it was the fact that a 98 year old body can achieve such a feat.

Those who tend to stay youthful on the outside are also youthful on the inside too. They aren’t afraid to keep doing what they enjoy, despite their age. So next time you dismiss something because of your age, think again.

Healthy Diet

One of the most important parts of a healthy diet is to drink plenty of water. Two thirds of your body is water with your muscles being 75% water and your blood being 83% water. Water is essential to the health of your body as it transports nutrients and oxygen around the body, it flushes toxins from the kidneys, it protects the organs and joints and regulates body temperature. If you’re not willing to change any other aspect of your diet, just try to drink more water. The recommended daily guideline is seven to eight glasses of water a day.

Next it’s important to eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. In fact the minimum daily guideline is five portions a day. Fruit and vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals which are essential to maintaining a healthy body. They also contain fibre which helps to rid the body of waste products. Another health benefit is that they contain antioxidants which are vital for protecting the body against aging free radicals.

Omega 3 is also a very important part of your diet. Medical studies have shown that it helps to reduce the risk of heart related conditions, it assists brain function, boosts the immune system and is vital for a good complexion. High concentrations of omega 3 can be found in fish such as salmon, halibut and tuna, and also in nuts and seeds and their associated oils.

Exercise

When you reach thirty, your body functions start to deteriorate at around 2% per year. However by doing regular exercise, you can reduce this by around 1-2% a year. Thus fighting the aging process.

Your muscles start to lose tone and sag as you age but regular exercise helps to re-tone your muscles and improve your appearance, strength and stamina. Plus exercise helps to boost your mental attitude by reducing stress and depression whilst helping you sleep which is vital for cell regeneration.

Exercise also boosts heart function, lowers blood pressure and reduces cholesterol which are all important for staying young and healthy. There are four types of exercise that you need to participate in to get the best results: aerobic exercise which boosts the heart rate, core stability which helps with balance and muscle tone, stretching exercises which keep joints flexible and muscles supple and strength exercises which are important for keeping your muscles primed.

By incorporating just 30 minutes of exercise into your daily routine can have dramatic results on your body and help you stay more youthful for longer.
